Having a wonderful time...

Despite the circumstances we are having a wonderful time catching up with relatives new and old.

I think the most enjoyable moments of our trip have been simple conversations that I have had getting to know Lalaine's relatives that I had never previously met. They have all been so amazingly sweet and gracious and have hosted us and fed us and have toured us around virtually everywhere. We feel so blessed and loved and I am truly grateful for each and every relative that have taken the time I am sure from their busy lives to show us around.

We have done so much traveling over the past two weeks but Lauren and Lea have been such troopers and are really enjoying themselves. I feel so much joy watching them play with their cousins here in the Philippines.

I had this long checklist of things I wanted to do and see in the Philippines. Here are a couple of the things I wanted to do and did:

- Ride on the back and hang off a speeding Jeepney. ✅

- Ride off the back of a speeding motorcycle tricycle ✅

- Eat Balut (For all our non-Filipino friends, google it and check out the fear factor version) ✅

- Before Dad passed away he was really excited to take me to his barber where he normally went to when in Calasiao. He used to tell me "You will love it, they give amazing haircuts and the best part, it only costs a $1"
Well he wasn't lying, it was a great cut and more importantly it was something I wanted to experience with Dad but in spirit. ✅

- Ride on a bangka (motor boat) ✅

- Watch a Lechon roasting from start to finish. ✅

The other day was our last day in Calasiao, Pangasinan. It was an emotional time saying goodbye to the house that Dad built and of course saying goodbye to beautiful relatives. Until next year, God willing.

It really is a circle of life. Yesterday we celebrated Mom's 65th birthday in her hometown of Baliuag, Bulacan. A beautiful time with wonderful friends present from Montreal and of course relatives from all over the Philippines coming to greet Mom. I even sang karoake in front of everyone and I wasn't even drunk yet. I cleared the room but that's ok, it was a birthday song for Mom :)

I've also surprised myself, I think I've adapted really well here! I thought at times the heat and traveling would be unbearable, but honestly I've loved every second of it.

I'm uploading this update from my iPhone, like a loser I transferred a lot of pics to my laptop so I will simply share whatever pics I currently have on my phone. I'll try and share the other pics from our last two weeks later today.

Having WIFI is sweet! It has also been nice to disconnect and not hear my phone beep and sound every other minute because of Facebook messages and text messages. Although here I am updating and catching up on Facebook.

I hear the snow is really coming down back home in Montreal. I can't wait to rip up the slopes and snowboard at Bromont.

Brossard Snowboarding Crew get ready, wax your boards and sharpen your edges because we gonna ride we we get back!
